I guess the big consolation I can take in all this is that I haven’t been playing Halo Wars, let alone paying attention to my stats in the game.  The Halo franchise has done more than any other game franchise in publishing online gaming stats for the Xbox 360.  I know some players that take their gaming stats very seriously and if they lost all of them they would be devastated.

Apparently there was a glitch with the Xbox Live system and the cause of the problem has yet to be determined.  If they are able to restore their database from a backup (really, you’d think they’d have backups) then all will be resolved and gamers will have only lost a few days of stats while they were down.  If the stats are completely lost, they are likely to lose a few gamers.  I know that after Bungie wiped out my Halo 2 (and Halo 3) stats a few times I just gave up on the game.  I understand the reasoning they claimed, but there has to be a better way than just globally wiping everything.
